This photo was taken using a triple exposure with each exposure using a red, green or blue filter. There was about 10 seconds between each exposure which you can see as the movement in the clouds and waves.
This sequence of 11 photos was taken on Caister beach on 7th April 1972 from 7:30am to 5:30pm. The camera was mounted on a tripod and left in the same position all day, from just before dawn until just after dusk.
The lights in the last frame are lanterns carried by anglers fishing from the beach.
